Hydrogen refuelling station
Products
Information
The hydrogen refuelling station of the Aragon Hydrogen Foundation, located in the Walqa Technology Park in Huesca, is a key infrastructure for promoting the use of hydrogen as an energy vector in Aragon and Europe. It is a pioneering facility in Spain that combines several essential functions for the development of the renewable hydrogen sector.
Main characteristics of the HRS:
1. Green hydrogen production:
- It produces hydrogen by electrolysis, using electricity from renewable sources (+700 kW of hybrid PV and wind)
- It allows this hydrogen to be stored under controlled conditions for later use.
2. Hydrogen supply:
- At 200, 350 and 700 bar
- Provides refuelling for fuel cell vehicles, such as cars, buses or forklift trucks.
- It is a demonstration refuelling station, key to validate hydrogen technologies in real conditions.
3. Experimental infrastructure:
- It acts as a test bed for technologies related to hydrogen production, storage and distribution.
- It is used in research and innovation projects, allowing companies and research centres to test their developments in a controlled environment.
4. Storage capacities:
- Storage systems are available at different pressures, suitable for testing in different contexts.
Objectives of the hydrogen plant
- To promote sustainable mobility
- To reduce transport emissions by promoting the use of hydrogen-powered vehicles.
- Encourage energy transition
- Demonstrate the viability of hydrogen as a renewable and sustainable alternative to fossil fuels.
- To accelerate technological innovation:
- To provide a testing platform for new hydrogen-related technologies.
- To raise awareness and educate:
- To show the public and energy sector stakeholders the possibilities of hydrogen as an energy vector.
This facility is part of the Aragon Hydrogen Foundation's commitment to lead the development of renewable hydrogen and contribute to the European objectives of decarbonisation.
