With the H2BE project, ENGIE and Equinor are developing large-scale production (1GW) of low-carbon hydrogen from natural gas in Belgium using Auto-thermal Reforming (ATR) technology. This technology, which plays a crucial role in advancing the production of the hydrogen sector in general, involves the reaction of methane with a combination of oxygen and steam. One of the key aspects of this project is to capture up to 95% of the emitted CO₂ and then to transport and store it on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
